BUFFALO, NY- The Williamsville School District was named the best in Western New York by Buffalo Business First for the 11th consecutive year.
This is the 14th time Williamsville has been named the number one school district in the last 24 years. Business First says no other school district has topped their standings more than five times.
Williamsville was ranked as the best district in math and was ranked among the top three in English/foreign languages, science and social studies, according to Business First.
Trailing Williamsville were the East Aurora and Clarence school districts, finishing in second and third place respectively. East Aurora has been among the top six school districts every year since 1997, but has never been ranked number one.
68 percent of last year's graduates from Williamsville's three public high schools earned Regents diplomas with advanced designations (meaning they passed eight Regents exams). The only WNY school district to do better was Akron at 70 percent.
Business First also says a total of 17 districts received subject awards, which honor the 10 best school districts in the subjects of English/foreign languages, math, science and social studies.
Williamsville, East Aurora, Iroquois and Orchard Park each received subject awards in all four fields.
Business First used four years of test data compiled by the state education department for their rankings.
