BUFFALO, N.Y. — Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Elyse Smith has been sharing her passion for science in a new way and from the safety of her home.
It's called "Experiments with Elyse," a weekly Facebook series that features a science experiment or activity that can be performed at home, many using items that are already around your home. This was developed as a resource for parents and teachers in an effort to help students with the transition to learning from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
What started as a simple Facebook Live has turned into an episodic playlist featuring videos produced, filmed and edited by Elyse. So far, Elyse has covered a range of topics from several scientific fields, including chemistry, physics, astronomy and, of course, meteorology. A few videos also feature special guests, Storm Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Patrick Hammer and the Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Buffalo Office Michael Fries.
Below are a few of her previous science experiments and lessons. Additional episodes can be found here.
