Questions may refute allegations of sex abuse on a school bus

The Diocese of Buffalo says "Our investigation of the allegation of abuse, including a review of the videotape, does not support the claim of abuse."

BUFFALO, NY - Ever Since reports surfaced of a 6-year old boy being sexually abused by an older student on a school bus from Our Lady of Black Rock last year, questions arose as to whether it really happened. The Diocese of Buffalo sheds light that maybe the incident never took place.

The child's mother signed a sworn statement saying, "the police officers who interviewed my son informed me that they had viewed the video from the bus and that my son't statements about being bullied and sexually assaulted were consistent with the video tape."

In a statement, The Diocese of Buffalo says "Our investigation of the allegation of abuse, including a review of the videotape, does not support the claim of abuse."

The president of the District Parent Coordinating Council in Buffalo told 2 On Your Side, "the question still remains are our children safe on those buses where that could have potentially happened?" Sam Radford is still pushing the Buffalo Public School District which provides transportation for the Catholic School students who live in the city to have aides on all buses.

Masten District Councilman Ulysees Wingo is hoping for answers at a March 10 Education committee meeting when officials from the school district are expected to appear with answers.

When 2 On Your Side's Claudine Ewing asked Wingo if the city was willing to give money to the district for aides, he said " is there any money! How about the board of education reallocate funds so that we do have aides on every bus. How about the board of education take the split shift and dedicate a morning and evening shift."

The New York State Education Commissioner has launched an investigation of alleged school bus assaults.
