NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — Niagara County Community College has announced the school is being re-branded to SUNY Niagara with a new name and logo.

The college held an unveiling ceremony on Wednesday to share the news with staff, students, and community members. The rebranding effort started in the Fall of 2022.

“This new brand will strengthen our position in Western New York. It showcases the energy and spirit that creates pride in our institution,” college president Dr. William J. Murabito said.

At Wednesday's unveiling, school leaders said they believe the rebranding effort, and the money behind it, will be worth it if they can continue the recent enrollment trend.

According to SUNY data, from September 2022 to September 2023 enrollment at NCCC, now SUNY Niagara, grew 9.1%.

Name recognition was another goal going into the process, according to Director of Public Relations Hal Legg.

"We were somewhat surprised to find that folks in our backyard really didn't recognize that we were a SUNY campus member," Legg said.

Legg said the college plans to roll out new advertising starting next month along with new college gear to get the word out.

Kevin Clark the Chair of NCCC's Board of Trustees added: “NCCC has been a springboard for so many in our community, and we will continue to do the same as SUNY Niagara."
