BUFFALO, N.Y. — It was graduation day for thousands across Western New York, and some big names were commencement speakers.
First stop, Buffalo State, where actor and singer Jesse L. Martin, from "Rent" and "Law and Order," received an honorary doctorate.
About 2,000 people graduated from Buffalo State on Saturday.
Down at SUNY Fredonia, Shaun Nelms, a 1999 graduate and current superintendent of East High School in Rochester, was the commencement speaker.
More than 1,100 people graduated from Fredonia.
