BUFFALO, N.Y. — The search committee for SUNY Buffalo State University gave an update Wednesday on their search for the next president of the college.
In an email to 2 On Your Side, the chair of the search committee said, "The Buffalo State Presidential Search Committee has completed virtual face-to-face video interviews, and we are pleased to announce that the committee has identified a small group of candidates with whom we will schedule additional meetings."
The chair went on to say that SUNY approved this decision "after careful consideration upon learning that the open search process with public campus meetings would have had a significant negative impact on the candidate pool. To maintain a strong, robust, and diverse applicant pool, this change will serve Buffalo State University’s best interest for its faculty, students, and community."
Although no time frame was given regarding when a final candidate will be picked, the chair reassures that the person selected will be based on reference checks, feedback from campus constituents, and the merit of each finalist.
