WYOMING COUNTY, N.Y. — The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office shared in a report on Wednesday that a 19-year-old inmate at the Wyoming County Jail had been found dead in his cell bunk on the previous day Tuesday, May 14.
Jail personnel found the inmate around 6 p.m. laying unresponsive. Life-saving measures were taken to try and save the inmate but all of the efforts were unsuccessful. The inmate was pronounced dead by a Wyoming County Corner.
The inmate's cause of death is unknown at this time. Their name will also not be shared until family members are notified.
The case has been submitted to the NYS Attorney General's Office, and the NYS Commission of Corrections for further review.
As the investigation continues there will be no further information given at this time.
