WARSAW, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) has confirmed that six staff members from the Wyoming Correctional Facility had to be transported to a hospital after a substance was found on an inmate.

This is the statement from the DOCCS:  "There is an ongoing investigation into a substance found on an incarcerated individual. Out of an abundance of caution, six staff members have been transported to local medical facilities. We have no additional comment at this time."

There's no word yet on what the substance was, or if the staff members became sick.

This incident follows another incident earlier this week when 11 officers at Collins Correctional Facility and one nurse were hospitalized following life-saving efforts after an inmate attempted suicide.  The officers needied narcan and 11 were transported to ECMC to be treated.  The inmate survived, but officials said that they still don’t know what the staff was exposed to.
