The driver of the Kia had a suspended license. He left the scene on foot before he called 911, claiming that his vehicle had been stolen.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — One woman died and a man was arrested following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls Police say that a woman in her 60s was ejected from her vehicle when a second vehicle, a westbound Kia SUV, ran a stop sign at the intersection of 24th Street and Michigan Avenue. The crash happened at 6:41 p.m.

Police say the woman, whose name was not released while her immediate family and relatives were being notified, was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where she died.

The man in the Kia, 32-year-old Stephen J. Wruck of Niagara Falls, was driving with a suspended license. He left the scene on foot before he called 911, claiming that his vehicle had been stolen.

Niagara Falls Police charged Wruck with vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a fatal accident, as well as other vehicle and traffic offenses.

Wruck, who was not injured in the collision, is being held at Niagara Falls City Jail without bail.

The Niagara Falls Crash Management Team is investigating the crash.
