BUFFALO, N.Y. — Three people were arrested following the assault of a Buffalo Police officer earlier this week.
The arrests stem from an incident that started past midnight on Wednesday, when officers responded to a fight call on the 1100 block of Jefferson Avenue. That's where juveniles were reportedly fighting inside the building.
"Upon arrival, officers witnessed a fight in progress," Buffalo Police said in a statement.
"While officers attempted to break up the involved parties, it is alleged that several individuals struck a female officer multiple times, causing injury. Three suspects were apprehended."
Among the arrests were people identified as 13 and 16-year-old girls. One other person, 20-year-old Jayla Moore, was also arrested.
All three people were charged with one felony count of gang assault, one felony count of assault, and one misdemeanor count of obstruction of governmental administration.
A search of the New York State electric court filing system on Saturday showed that Moore's next court appearance is scheduled for Monday morning in Buffalo City Court. She was assigned an attorney.
One officer was injured during the incident. She was treated at Erie County Medical Center and later released. Police did not provide details on her injuries.
