ALLEGANY COUNTY, N.Y. — A Virginia woman is now in custody following a high-speed chase in the Southern Tier.
New York State Police on Friday said 23-year-old Alyssa Jane Venable is accused of killing her three roommates in what authorities are calling a "heinous crime."
A 65-year-old woman and two men, ages 60 and 77, were found dead in their Virginia home on Tuesday night. State police on Thursday, around 5:30 p.m., saw Venable's 2009 Honda Civic in Allegany County and attempted to pull it over.
Venable is accused of leading police on a pursuit across county lines at speeds that topped 100 mph. State Police said a tire deflation device was used to crash her car and that Venable was finally taken into custody in Steuben County.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office sought Venable on three counts of second-degree murder and for use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Venable was taken by ambulance to a hospital for what police called non-life-threatening injuries.
