BUFFALO, N.Y. — University of Buffalo Police responded to reports of an alleged armed robbery early Thursday morning at the University's North Campus Creekside Village Apartments.
Reports say that two UB students were outside of the apartments around 12:40 a.m. and had been allegedly approached by three unknown people. Those unknown people displayed what had appeared to be handguns according to the two students, who assumed they were plastic or toy weapons.
The unknown people had demanded that the two students give them their belongings, punched one student in the head, stole their phone, and wallet. The other students jacket was stolen, and the three unknown people fled on foot.
Paramedics evaluated the student who was punched, and they declined transport. They reported the other student as not injured.
The unknown people have been described as three Black males, one wearing a black Nike sweatsuit with burgundy shoes, one wearing a black Nike sweatsuit with black shoes, and the third wearing a grey sweatsuit with black shoes.
All three were wearing ski masks.
"Investigators have concluded that the robbery was targeted in nature and not a random act of violence," the school said in an update Thursday night.
University Police have increased patrols in the area and are urging members of the community to remain alert to their surroundings, and promptly report any unusual circumstances or suspicious persons and activities to the University Police as soon as possible.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call University Police at (716)-645-2222.
