BUFFALO, NY-- Opening statements are set to begin in a non-jury trial for a Cheektowaga man who is accused of double murder.
Buffalo Police say that Christopher J. Perkins, Jr., 23, killed Benjamin Gerald, 31 and Deverin L. White, 30, on May Street this past August. Gerald and White were passengers in a vehicle that was fired at, then crashed and flipped over. White died at the scene. Gerald died a short time later after surgery.
Perkins was arrested in Oklahoma by US Marshals after fleeing the Buffalo area.
Perkins could get life in prison if convicted.
