Town of Tonawanda man arraigned, charged with murder of his wife

Prosecutors allege that Jose Ruiz strangled his wife, 59-year-old Mavilie Ruiz, to death on December 9 in their Tillotson Street home.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Town of Tonawanda man was arraigned Friday in Erie County Court. He's been charged with the murder of his wife.

Jose Ruiz, Jr., 50, appeared in court on Friday morning. If convicted of murder in the second degree, a Class A1 felony, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors allege that Ruiz strangled his wife, 59-year-old Mavilie Ruiz, to death on December 9 in their Tillotson Street home.

Ruiz is next scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. on February 28. He's being held without bail.
