After six months of investigating, Atlanta Police had a breakthrough in the deaths of Western New York natives Deborah Jenkins Hubbard and Harry Hubbard.
The couple was found dead inside of their Atlanta home after it was set on fire in July.
A medical examiner said the couple died before the fire from strangulation and thermal injuries.
Sunday, 2 On Your Side learned Atlanta Police arrested and charged Deborah's son Keith Sylvester with murder.
After the incident in July, Keith acted as a spokesperson for the family, and did an interview with 2 on Your Side's Claudine Ewing.
"At first, we thought it was just a house fire, but apparently something else happened in that house that morning," said Sylvester.
The Hubbards moved to Atlanta recently, and they were members of True Bethel Baptist church in Buffalo.
In July, Reverend Darius Pridgen remembered the couple. "Very stable couple active in their church in several ways, so it was a surprise. They've been going back and forth between Buffalo and Atlanta."
During our interview with Sylvester, he praised his mother, "My mother was a good mother. She was a grandmother, she's a veteran, she worked at Buffalo Veterans hospital and several other companies like Gioia when they were there."
Sylvester is charged with two counts of murder and remains in the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.
Monday, Sylvester waived his first appearance hearing this morning. Bond has not been set, and he will remain at the Fulton county jail until further notice.
