CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — An Erie County Court Judge sentenced a shoplifter on Wednesday to 5-years of probation.

Police say Hector L. Colon, 47, of Buffalo had been at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga last November when he threatened security guards with a knife after attempting to steal items.

According to investigators, Colon had taken two fragrance sets that totaled $330. When he went to exit the store without purchasing the items two of the store's asset protection officers confronted him. That is when he threatened them with a pocket knife, they said.

Cheektowaga Police took Colon into custody along with the stolen merchandise.

Colon pleaded guilty to one count of robbery in the third degree, and a final stay-away order was issued keeping him from entering the store in the future.
