ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Three people were arrested after recently attempting to deposit a fraudulent check.
Orchard Park Police said Wednesday that officers were called to Community Bank at 5 Clark St. back on Nov. 4. That's when a man identified as John Cain attempted to deposit a fraudulent check worth $117,310.
Police arrived as Cain talked with bank tellers, and still in possession of the fraudulent check. Officers conducted interviews with two other suspects, who police said were also involved.
"The three suspects were in possession of multiple stolen checks, credit cards, and a check printer," police said. "The U.S. Postal Inspectors Office was notified of the stolen checks and assisted in the investigation."
Charges faces by Cain, Jaylin Dorsey, and Devin Hibbert-Day include one felony count of criminal possession of stolen property, one felony count of identity theft, one felony count of attempted grand larceny, one misdemeanor count of criminal impersonation, and one misdemeanor count of issuing a bad check.
All three were arraigned in Orchard Park Court. A search of the New York State electric court filing system did not show any past or future court appearances for them.
Cain and Dorsey were released. Hibbert-Day is being held at the Erie County Holding Center.
