Pedestrian seriously hurt in Amherst crash

Investigators ask anyone who may have security or dash-camera footage of the incident to call Amherst Police.

AMHERST, N.Y. — One pedestrian was seriously hurt in Amherst when he was hit by a car while crossing S. Youngs Road south of Main Street. Officers said the driver, a 50-year-old man from Lockport, hit the 20-year-old man from Cheektowaga just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

The pedestrian was treated by first responders at the scene for "serious injuries to his head." Twin City Ambulance transported him to the Erie County Medical Center for further treatment. The driver was not injured in the crash.

Investigators ask any people or drivers who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident to call Amherst Police at 716-689-1311.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
