ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Two people were charged following a rollover accident on the I-219 in Orchard Park.
Orchard Park Police responded to a 911 call for a report of a rollover accident Sunday afternoon.
Police say the rollover happened in the grassy median between the Milestrip Road on-ramp and off-ramp. They say the car could be seen on its side with the two occupants allegedly hiding nearby in the wood line.
Officers say they detained the two occupants of the vehicle who told police they were involved in the crash, and had been on their way home from tailgating at the Bills vs. Miami game.
While talking to the female driver, officers say they could smell alcohol and asked her to do a series of field sobriety tests. She was also offered to submit a chemical test, which she allegedly refused, they said.
The driver, Ebony Sumpter, 30, of Buffalo, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, having tinted side windows, a tinted front windshield, unsafe tire, failed to keep right, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and an uninspected motor vehicle.
Her passenger was issued a traffic ticket for failure to wear a seatbelt.
Both Sumpter, and her passenger were evaluated and treated by Orchard Park EMS. Both refused transport to the hospital.
