NYS investigating claims of molestation at Buffalo nursing home

The New York State Health Department is investigating allegations that a nursing home patient was molested by a former administrator.

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The New York State Health Department is investigating allegations that a nursing home patient was molested by a former administrator.

The abuse allegedly happened at Emerald South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A state health department spokesperson released the following statement to 2 On Your Side:

“Ensuring the well-being of all nursing home residents is of the utmost importance of the state health department. We are aware of these allegations and we are investigating. As this remains an active investigation, we cannot comment further.”

The state currently has two other active investigations into the nursing home. The recent investigation comes after an 87-year-old man died while trying to climb out of his third floor window.

The state health department said if anyone has a complaint or concerns about nursing homes, they should call the Centralized Complaint Intake at 1-888-201-4563.
