BUFFALO, N.Y. — A state appeals court has ruled that notorious sex offender Nushawn Williams, also known as Shyteek Johnson, will remain in civil confinement. Denying Williams' latest request to be released from custody, where he's been since 2010.
He is held under the Sex Offender Management and Treatment Act, which is a specific law for sex offenders with a mental health problem making them likely to re-offend.
Williams has already served his 12-year prison sentence for rape and reckless endangerment. He pleaded guilty to having unprotected sex, knowing he was HIV positive and not telling his partners about his health status in the Jamestown, NY area. Thirteen of the women contracted the disease.
