Niagara Falls woman hit, driver charged with aggravated DWI

The pedestrian, a 37-year-old woman, is listed in stable condition at Erie County Medical Center, where she was treated for unknown injuries.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — A 49-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for aggravated driving while intoxicated (DWI), according to Niagara Falls Police.

Police say the Niagara Falls man from was traveling west in a 2008 Ford Escape on the 1900 block of Niagara Street at about 4:55 p.m.

That's where the pedestrian, a 37-year-old woman, was crossing in front of a parked vehicle. The woman was thrown from the hood of the Escape and onto another parked vehicle.

The woman is listed in stable condition at Erie County Medical Center, where she was treated for unknown injuries.

Neither she, nor the driver, have been identified at this point.

In addition to aggravated driving while intoxicated, the driver was also charged with having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

Niagara Falls Police say a crash management team is still investigating.
