Niagara Falls woman charged for reckless driving

The woman is accused of hitting a child on a bike, seriously injuring them with her vehicle.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — A woman in Niagara Falls is being charged with multiple crimes regarding a reckless driving incident.

Juajhane Y. Cox, 25, of Niagara Falls was charged by the Niagara Falls Police Department after she allegedly hit a child on a bike on Ferry Avenue in Niagara Falls on July 19, 2023. The child suffered serious injuries.

Cox is charged with crimes of Assault in the 2nd Degree, Vehicular Assault in the 2nd Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by a Drug, Leandra’s Law DWI, Reckless Driving, and a series of vehicle and traffic infractions.

She was arraigned while in Niagara County Court by Judge John J. Ottaviano before being released with an ankle monitor.

A future court date has been set for January 18 for further proceedings which the charges may carry a possibly of a seven year term in prison.
