Niagara Falls murder suspect found in Philadelphia arraigned in Lockport

Juan Ubiles pleaded not guilty to the charges against him in Niagara County Court. They include second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The man wanted in connection to a murder in Niagara Falls was arraigned Wednesday after prosecutors say he skipped town but was tracked down by U.S. Marshals last month.

Juan Ubiles pleaded not guilty to the charges against him in Niagara County Court. They include second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Ubiles had to be extradited from Philadelphia after Marshals found him there in September.

According to the Niagara County District Attorney's Office, Ubiles was using a fake ID and fake name when he was arrested.

Ubiles was charged in connection with the death of 44-year-old Gregorey Vincent, who was found dead on 18th Street in Niagara Falls in June. The alleged crime was the focus of a Crimestoppers reward.

Vincent's wife Tracy and his extended family were in court Wednesday, seeking justice for him. Tracy told 2 On Your Side their family would never be OK.

"The loss that we suffered will never be replaced. His children will never be able to grow up with their father, his grandkids will never be able to see their grandfather, his father, his mother, his grandmother, his kid's mother, they will never be able to see him again," she said.

The District Attorney's Office requested that Ubiles be held without bail, citing his arrest in Philadelphia.

Ubiles' attorney, however, asked the judge for more time to speak with his client who had just arrived in New York.

The judge granted the defense's request and set a bail hearing date of Oct. 20.

Vincent's family said they would feel much safer knowing Ubiles is behind bars until trial.

"What we do want to say is that bail, we'd feel much safer and relieved if there is no bail. We can sleep better at night knowing that our kids can go to school knowing better that he's not going to be allowed on the street during this or until he is sentenced," said Tracy Vincente.

Vincent added that her family appreciates the work of the Victim Crimes Unit, SNUG, and thanked all those who have come to help their family in this time of need.
