BUFFALO, N.Y. — The man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend inside the McKinley Mall has now been indicted for murder.
Keith Sparks, 44, of Niagara Falls is accused of stabbing Mallicia Tipps inside the Sears store at the mall on September 25.
He was arrested shortly after that deadly stabbing, but the Erie County District Attorney's office had 45 days to indict him on the charge.
"In this occasion right here, he waived his felony hearing," district attorney John Flynn said. "So we had 45 days to indict. It was done within the 45 days, so there was nothing unsual about the delay here."
Sparks faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison if convicted as charged.
He's due back in court for a pre-trial appearance next month.
