WHEATFIELD, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported chemical spill early Monday morning in the Town of Wheatfield.
Niagara County dispatchers had received the call at 3:02 a.m. involving a hazardous material incident at Archem Inc. where approximately 100 gallons of chemical spilled.
Bergholz Volunteer fire Company was assisted by multiple agencies including the Niagara Air Reserve Station, and the Niagara County Hazardous Materials Team.
Three employees were taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for evaluation and precautionary decontamination.
Officials at the scene were able to stabilize any further exposure to those there and the surrounding area.
There is no environmental or personal health risks to the surrounding businesses or residents at this time. An investigation is currently ongoing to look into what caused the spill.
