Driver pleads guilty to crash that seriously injured North Tonawanda man

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Niagara County man has pleaded to a crash that seriously injured another person.

Mark Printup, 51, of Cambria pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of Vehicular Assault in the First Degree.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says the crash happened on August 13, 2022,  Investigators say  Printup was under the influence of alcohol when he drove through a stop sign at Utley Road and Hunts Corners Road in the Town of Newstead and hit another vehicle. 

The victim, a 22-year-old man from North Tonawanda, had to be cut out of his vehicle by firefighters.  He was taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight.  The victim suffered a traumatic brain injury and fractured pelvis.  He underwent several surgeries and is receiving long-term care for his injuries.

The defendant could face up to seven years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, February 13 at 9:30 a.m. He remains released on his own recognizance.
