LEWISTON, N.Y. — Eleven pounds of marijuana was found in a "puzzle activity box” shipment Tuesday at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.
The marijuana had an estimated value of $30,000, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. They found "10 vacuum-sealed packages that contained a green-leafy-substance" inside a cargo shipment.
“The officers assigned to the Port of Buffalo continue to demonstrate their steadfast dedication to intercepting illegal contraband,” Buffalo port director Gaetano Cordone said in a statement. “Our CBP officers’ commitment to secure our border prevented this contraband from entering our community.”
In addition to drugs, border officials have seized stolen vehicles — including luxury vehicles — as they attempt to cross from Canada into the United States.
