BUFFALO, N.Y. — A 20-year-old man from Buffalo has pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in connection with a January 2022 homicide in the Queen City.
Vincent Manirakiza pleaded guilty as an accomplice in the double shooting that happened on Koons Avenue on January 25, 2022.
Prosecutors say Manirakiza and a juvenile offender unlawfully entered a home through a window. Once inside, the juvenile, then 15, intentionally shot two teenagers with an illegal "ghost gun."
A 17-year-old female died at the scene. The Erie County District Attorney's Office is not releasing her name due to her age. A 19-year-old man was shot in the arm and taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
Manirakiza faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. He remains locked up without bail.
The juvenile pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder, the highest charge in the indictment. He is currently serving 12 years to life in prison.
