JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 20-year-old man faces multiple charges after a traffic stop in Jamestown Thursday afternoon.

Jamestown Police say officers pulled a vehicle over for a suspended registration in the area of West 8th Street and Monroe Street.

Officers say during the stop, the passenger, Angel L. Rondon Gonzalez, 20, took possession of the vehicle without permission from the driver or owner. Officers tried to secure Rondon Gonzalez, but he drove away with officers in the vehicle. The officers were able to safely exit and followed the vehicle to Murray Avenue. They say the suspect exited the vehicle and led officers on a brief foot chase.

Officers say they recovered a loaded pistol and fanny pack with cash and cocaine inside — items believed to be discarded by the suspect during the chase.

Rondon Gonzalez was arrested and taken to the Jamestown city jail. He is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
