Buffalo man charged for smashing windows at City Hall; making threats

Police were called to Buffalo City Hall around 6:30 p.m. for a report of a man smashing windows.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — One person was arrested following an incident that happened Sunday evening at Buffalo City Hall.

Police were called to City Hall around 6:30 p.m. for a report of a man smashing windows.  When officers arrived, they noticed significant damage to several windows and doors of City Hall. 

In all, police say the man, identified as Antonio Nunes, 40 of Buffalo, allegedly broke 12 glass windows.  Each window is valued at $1,000, according to officials.  They say he also broke six panes of glass on a revolving door. 

During his arrest, officers said Nunes allegedly made threatening comments about Buffalo's mayor. 

Nunes is facing several charges, including: Making a Terroristic Threat, six counts of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, 12 counts of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree and once count of Possession of Burglar Tools. 

Nunes was arraigned in Buffalo City Court Monday morning and released from custody. He plead not guilty.   A Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order was also issued by the judge. 

Police are continuing their investigation.
