Lockport man accused of stealing $500K from employer

Michael A. Szafran, 42, is charged with grand larceny in the second degree.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — A Lockport man is accused of stealing half million dollars from his employer.

Michael A. Szafran, 42, is charged with grand larceny in the second degree.

The Niagara County Sheriff's office says the arrest is the result of an eight-month investigation.

Investigators say Szafran took $500,000 from Hildreth Electric, where he was employed.

Szafran was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.  He is scheduled to return to court May 29.
