Man dies following hit-and-run accident in Jamestown

Police say the driver, an 82-year-old woman, might have had a medical emergency before the accident.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A man died following a hit-and-run accident Thursday afternoon, according to Jamestown Police.

Police say it happened at 1:31 p.m. at Newland and Chautauqua avenues in Jamestown. According to investigators, he was struck from behind while walking with his bike on Newland Avenue.

The 86-year-old victim's name has not been released. Police say he was taken to UPMC Jamestown, where he was later pronounced dead.

Jamestown Police said the vehicle was found on Fairmount Avenue by the Lakewood Busti Police Department. The driver of the white, newer model minivan was described as an 82-year-old woman.

Police say the driver might have had a medical emergency before the accident. She was taken to UPMC Jamestown before being transferred to UPMC Hamot for additional treatment.
