Jamestown man charged in connection to 2 deadly crashes pleads guilty to federal gun charge

Randall Rolison, 60, was being investigated for the first crash when it was discovered he was buying and selling guns according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

MAYVILLE, N.Y. — A Jamestown man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of possessing firearms and ammunition as a felon while he was being investigated for his role in a deadly crash.

Randall Rolison, 60, pleaded guilty to the charge that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

At the time, Rolison was being investigated for a crash that killed 15-year-old Alexia "Lexy" Hughan on New Year's Eve in 2021. He was later charged in connection to a deadly crash that killed a Cattaraugus County woman in December 2022.

The Jamestown Police Department and FBI started investigating Rolison in January of 2022 following the New Year's Eve crash. Rolison bought firearms outside of New York and sold them in the Southern Tier according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Rolison was reportedly a long-haul truck driver and had bought guns from a roadside stand in Georgia sometime between the summer and winter of 2021. Investigators say he then transported and sold, or attempted to sell nine firearms and ammunition.

Rolison was convicted of a felony in Michigan in 1997 and is legally barred from possessing a firearm.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on the federal charge in December.

Rolison was indicted on charges of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, and Manslaughter in the Second Degree last year for the second fatal accident he was involved in less than a year apart.

Rolison is accused of causing the fatal crash that killed Linda Kraemer, 71, of South Dayton in December of 2021. Gary A. Kraemer, 71, was injured in the accident.

On December 31, 2021, 15-year-old Alexis "Lexy" Hughan was hit by a tractor-trailer while crossing a street in Jamestown, for which Rolison was later indicted for manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and driving while ability impaired.

Both cases are still ongoing.
