SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Great New York State Fair closed early Sunday evening while police investigated reports of shots fired.

The New York State Police say troopers received a call Sunday around 8:30 p.m. of possible shots fired between the midway and concert area at Suburban Park.

Shortly after that call, State Police received a second call of possible shots fired at an eatery building.

Troopers investigated both incidents and say there was no evidence of shots fired or anyone being injured.

The New York State Fair announced at 9:40 p.m. on social media that the fair was closing early after consulting with law enforcement.

State Police are continuing to investigate the false reports.

The fair reopened on Monday, September 2, which is the last day of the fair.
