SHERIDAN, Ind. — A thief in Sheridan has been arrested after a GPS tracking tag on a stolen yard sign led police directly to the culprit.
According to a release from the Sheridan Police Department, around 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, officers received a call from a theft victim saying that someone had stolen their political yard signs.
The theft victim reportedly told police that they had noticed multiple signs had gone missing from their front yard over a period of time. This led the victim to attach and hide a GPS tracking device on the last yard sign they placed.
The GPS device led police directly to a home in Sheridan. After obtaining a search warrant, police searched the suspect's home before arresting and charging them.
