DUNKIRK, N.Y. — A Village of Gowanda man faces several charges following a police chase Tuesday evening in the City of Dunkirk, according to the Dunkirk Police Department.
Police say Ethan AJ McHale, 21, has been charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, which is a class D felony. He has also been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
Police say McHale was driving a car with switched registration plates and did not comply when officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, resulting in a short pursuit.
McHale was allegedly driving recklessly and without headlights. Police say he was forcing other vehicles off the roadway and was driving on sidewalks and lawns. McHale crashed into a parked vehicle, then struck a marked Dunkirk Police vehicle.
The pursuit ended on Park Avenue between East 7th Street and East 6th Street. No serious injuries have been reported.
McHale was held overnight and arraigned and released Wednesday morning.
