Victims identified in double homicide in Genesee County

Raul Cruz, 18, of Warsaw and Prince N.K. Wilson, 23, of Albion have been arrested in connection to the deaths. They are being held without bail.

ALEXANDER, N.Y. — Arrests have been made after two people were found dead last Friday night at a farm in the Town of Alexander in Genesee County.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office said Raul Cruz, 18, of Warsaw and Prince N.K. Wilson, 23, of Albion were arrested in connection to the deaths following an investigation.

Wilson was taken into custody "a short time following the incident" in Batavia, according to the sheriff's office. Cruz was located Saturday in the Warsaw area and taken into custody.

Friday, the Genesee County Sheriff's Department identified the victims as 30-year-old Elibander Morales who was also known as Elibander Morales Velazquez, Elibander Ivan Cruz and Ivan Cruz and 29-year-old Marceleno Gomez Hernandez; also known as Marcelino Gomez Hernandez. Both were born in Mexico, but had been living and working in the US.

Cruz and Wilson were charged with second-degree murder and arraigned in Town of Batavia Court. They are being held in Genesee County Jail without bail, according to a statement released late Saturday night.

The sheriff's office says the Genesee County Emergency Communications Center received a call at 9:59 p.m. about a disturbance that happened on Alexander Road. When they arrived, deputies found the men dead, and there was smoke coming from the building.

The fire inside the building was extinguished, and after that, sheriff's office deputies were able to determine that the two men were homicide victims. 

Genesee County officials say it was an isolated incident, adding that there was no danger to public safety.

Assisting in the investigation, which in ongoing, are the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, Warsaw Police Department, Wyoming County Sheriff's Office, Albion Police Department, Orleans County Sheriff's Office, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Genesee County Emergency Management Office, and the Alexander Fire Department.
