SOMERSET, N.Y. — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene of a fatal crash in the Town of Somerset on Tuesday.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Road and Carmen Road.
A 2024 Nissan was traveling northbound on Carmen Road when it failed to yield to the right of way to a 2019 GMC traveling eastbound on Lake Road. The GMC struck the Nissan and then went into a cornfield that was northeast of the intersection.
The Nissan came to a rest in the intersection after being hit. The driver of the GMC, a 77-year-old man was transported to Lockport Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The Nissan driver, a 78-year-old was taken via Mercy Flight to ECMC where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Both drivers have been identified as Earl H. Foster, 77, of Wilson in the GMC, and Louis A. Greenwald, 78, of Lake Wales, Florida in the Nissan.
The Niagara County Sheriff's are continuing to investigate the crash.
