TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The reward for information leading to an arrest in the killing of a Tonawanda mom has now been raised.
Over a month ago, Danielle Cretacci was shot and killed in a home she had been living in. Her two daughters were also shot and survived.
Now the FBI hopes a boost in reward money will lead to new information.
Family and friends hope so as well.
"I'm excited they raised the amount to $25,000, the reward, which is great, thanks to the FBI," said Thomas Cino, a retired Buffalo Police officer with 27 years on the force. He was also a close friend of Danielle Cretacci.
She was shot and killed in a home on Ebling Avenue in Tonawanda.
He remains by her family's side.
"I just hope there's somebody out there that knows or has information in regards to this, and if they do, they step forward and be courageous and contact the Town of Tonawanda police," Cino said.
Cretacci, who was 31 years old, was known by many accounts as a good mom.
Her two daughters -- ages 11 and 8 -- were also shot. They survived and are staying with family.
Cino, through Facebook, raised more than $9,000 for them.
"In the future, it's going to be set aside until they get of legal age, and they'll have access to the money," Cino said.
As for the police investigation, Tonawanda Police say Cretacci was targeted. Other than that, investigators have revealed few details.
Cino hopes the $25,000 reward brings about new information.
"I think it was a great move on behalf of the FBI to contribute, and I think they'll start to get a lot of phone calls because of that. I think it's going to get that person that might've been on the fence to jump on the other side and do the right thing," Cino said.
Anyone with information that could help investigators should contact Tonawanda Police at 716-876-5300, Crime Stoppers Buffalo at 716-867-6161, or FBI Buffalo at 716-856-7800, or send a tip to tips.fbi.gov.
