Fake Olympic medals seized at Western New York border crossing

The two fake medals are supposed to be from the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.

LEWISTON, N.Y. — Fake Olympic medals were recently seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Western New York.

Donald Stakes, Acting Director of Field Operations for the Buffalo Field Office, on Wednesday shared photos on social media, showing two fake medals that were recently recovered at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.

The two fake medals are supposed to be from the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.

"There are no shortcuts to success," Stakes said.

The Olympics are fast approaching once again. The Summer Games start July 26 and run through Aug. 11, and you can watch all the action on NBC and Channel 2.
