NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — A former Niagara Falls police officer has pleaded guilty to having sex with an underage girl.
Martice D. Porter, 22, of Niagara Falls plead guilty to Rape in the Third Degree.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says they began an investigation after receiving a report of an alleged sex offense involving a juvenile victim.
"It is an unfortunate and regrettable thing when someone who is charged with upholding the law instead transgresses it. I hope that the defendant being held accountable will help the victim of this crime move forward. I do wish to commend the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office on the diligent and professional manner in which they carried out their investigation," said Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman in a release,
Porter returns to court for sentencing on October 8. He could face up to four years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender.
Porter was fired from the department and stripped of his license to be a police officer in New York State, according to the NYS Division of Criminal Justice.
