BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Erie County Sheriff's Office announced in a press release on Saturday the arrest of a 38-year-old man after a fight happened outside of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library on Friday, May 24.
Officers had been dispatched to a fight-in-progress around 3:15 p.m. where the suspect Jacob Schneider of Buffalo had been yelling and causing a scene. Officers had asked Schneider to stop which led to a foot chase across Washington Street and North down Main Street.
Schneider had been apprehended and brought back to the scene at the Library for further investigation. The victim who had been involved in the altercation was bleeding from the head and treated by security at the scene where they were then transported to Buffalo General for further treatment.
Following an investigation it had revealed that Schneider allegedly confronted the victim, and patted them down taking money from their pocket. He then allegedly hit the victim multiple times while the victim did not fight back. Security was able to break up the fight at the time but that is when Police chased Schneider on foot.
Schneider has since then been charged with robbery in the 3rd degree, assault in the 3rd degree, and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
The victim was also detained on a warrant out of the State of Pennsylvania.
