Erie Co. Sheriff investigating hit and run incident involving patrol vehicle

Police are looking for the person or persons responsible for a hit-and-run incident involving an Erie County Sheriff patrol vehicle

CLARENCE, N.Y. — The Erie County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit-and-run incident that took place Tuesday morning involving a patrol car.

Police say they observed a black SUV with its doors open just before 4 a.m. in the Town of Clarence. 

The deputy then made a U-turn attempting to investigate and upon arrival, the individuals entered the vehicle in question, struck the patrol car's front push bar, and sped off eastbound on Wehrle Drive.

No injuries were reported, but officials believe the SUV may have passenger-side damage.

Two additional reports of larcenies were made from individuals living in the Connection Drive neighborhood.

The situation remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Erie County Sheriff’s Office at (716) 858-2903.
