BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Department shared that they have arrested an Erie County Assistant District Attorney following an investigation.
De'lenci Shannon Brown 28, of Buffalo, is charged with official misconduct, as well as a Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said that while their department was investigating an unrelated case, they came across cellphone records, and that one of the cellphone numbers belonged to an Erie County Assistant District Attorney who was assigned to Buffalo City Court.
Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael Keane said he allegedly shared information about cases with individuals that should not have information on those cases.
Buffalo Police says they contacted Erie County District Attorney's Office. They say Shannon Brown was allegedly using his office in a way that violated Penal Law of Official Misconduct.
Shannon Brown, who only started working for the District Attorney's Office for five weeks. He was arrested by the Erie County Sheriff's Office. He was immediately terminated by the District Attorney's Office.
"As District Attorney, I expect our prosecutors to serve the People of the State of New York with integrity and abide by their ethical duties. I am deeply upset by these allegations as I value the trust that the citizens of Erie County place in the public servants who work within my office," said Keane. "I commend the members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and Buffalo Police Department for promptly bring this matter to my attention as well as for their swift actions in this ongoing investigation.”
He will be arraigned Friday in Buffalo City Court. A motion has been filed to have a special prosecutor assigned to this case.
