BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Genesee County man will be heading to prison for his role in a crash that killed a child.
A State Supreme Count judge sentenced 35-year-old Nicholas Rich of Darien to four to 12 years behind bars.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office said Rich was driving recklessly and under the influence when he caused a crash in Lancaster that took the life of a 10-year-old Levi Zielonka and injured two others.
Back in late November, Rich pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Investigators said Rich was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed, and under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 13, when he caused a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Broadway and Schwartz Road in the Town of Lancaster.
Rich had faced up to 25 years in prison.
