BUFFALO, N.Y. — An Erie County Sheriff's Office says methamphetamine and materials to make it were found in David Smercak's car during a traffic stop.
The 50-year-old Smercak, of Colden, was arrested and charged him with a felony count of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and two misdemeanors for possessing the substance and marijuana.
Smercak told a Sheriff's Deputy that he was in possession of marijuana, but while searching his car the deputy also found a plastic bag that smelled strongly of chemicals and contained a covered bucket, plastic bottles, and medical gloves.
The sheriffs' certified meth lab investigator and state police's meth disposal team secured the car.
The Sheriff's Office says Smercak was out on bail for burglary and drug-related charges in July.
