LANCASTER, N.Y. — A 21-year-old Lancaster man plead guilty before a Lancaster Town Court Justice on Thursday.
Michael L. Stasiuk pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and one count of Assault in the Third Degree.
Stasiuk damaged the 'Patriots and Heroes Park' on Transit Road in the Town of Lancaster during the early morning hours on Thursday, March 2, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Investigators say Stasiuk drove his car onto the property ruining the landscaping, and broke multiple statues. The damages at the park came to a total of approximately $200,000.
Lancaster Police had executed a search warrant where they had found pieces of the broken statues in Stasiuk's car.
On the following day, Lancaster Police were called to Pleasant View Drive regarding the welfare of a pedestrian. When officers arrived on scene, they cam across Stasiuk who had ran in front of the car while yelling obscenities.
The officer exited his vehicle while Stasiuk continued to run into the middle of the street, and other officers at the scene blocked on coming traffic to keep him from getting hit.
Satsiuk refused to go into custody, and fought with the officer by biting his hand. Officers had to tase Stasiuk to take him into custody.
Stasiuk has since been sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to continue participation in mental health treatment.
