ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — A former employee of a jewelry store pleaded guilty before an Erie County Court Justice May 17 for stealing from the business.

Jason T. Badagliacca, 38, of Orchard Park, plead guilty to one count of Grand Larceny in the 2nd degree.

The New York State Police investigators say that between September 2021 - August 2022, Badagliacca had been working as an inventory manager for a local jewelry business.  They say Badagliacca had been stealing precious stones, and jewelry that he would then sell on the side. He also would pocket cash payments from customers who were financing their purchases made on their accounts. According to the investigators, Badagliacca trued to hide his actions by manipulating records for inventory and income which was discovered following an audit.

Overall, investigators discovered he had stolen $100,000 worth of money and inventory from his employer during that time.

As apart of his plea, Badagliacca will have to sign a Confession of Judgement to pay back the full $100,000 restitution to the employer.

He  faces up to 15-years in prison when he is sentenced in October.  He is currently released on his own recognizance.
