Police investigate double fatal car crash; charges filed

According to accident investigators, a Dodge Magnum was speeding north on Main Street, when it collided with a Toyota Corolla.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police are investigating a double fatal crash along Main Street and Humboldt Parkway.

Officers were called to the area just before 12:15 a.m. Thursday.

According to accident investigators, a Dodge Magnum was speeding north on Main Street, when it collided with a Toyota Corolla, which was trying to make a left turn onto Main Street. The Dodge Magnum did not have its headlights on.

Police say a 27-year-old Buffalo man, Nasir Musazada, and a 26-year-old passenger, Morgan Ehrenbeit of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, in the Corolla were transported to Erie County Medical Center, where they died. Musazada was driving.

Two other passengers in the Corolla, both 31-year-old men from Ohio, were also transported to ECMC. One is listed in critical condition and the other in stable condition.

"Three passengers from Ohio were in town for some event at RiverWorks and responsibly called for a ride share, and (they) were being driven to an Airbnb in that ride share when this accident occurred," Buffalo Police commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said.

Police say the 23-year-old driver of the Dodge, Devin M. Ford of Buffalo, has been charged with two felony counts of manslaughter, two felony counts of assault, and four state vehicle and traffic law violations for speeding, driving without a valid license, driving without insurance, and failure to use headlights. 

Ford faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the highest charge. He is scheduled to return to court on March 27 for a felony hearing and is being held without bail. Additional charges could still be filed.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office that a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the injured victims, who are recovering at ECMC.

The crash remains under investigation.
